Making their mark at the 11th Annual International Latino Book Awards, UTEP professor of English, Mimi Gladstein, Ph.D. and associate professor of creative writing, Daniel Chacon were awarded second place in the Best Biography in English category for their book, "The Last Supper of Chicano Heroes: Selected Works of José Antonio Burciaga."

A collection of Burciaga’s work, the book features illustrations, unpublished essays, drawings, and selections from the artist’s unfinished memoir, “The Temple Gang.” Gladstein offers her thoughts, “Tony Burciaga was a remarkable artist. He was able to paint pictures both verbally and with a paintbrush. The award is for his work, really.”
