2006 Viña Cobos ‘Lagarto’
This wine is the work of mastermind Paul Hobbs, the wine maker for Viña Cobos. This wine shows good fruit concentration along with great structure due to a warm and dry growing season. It is dark-ruby in color, and its flavors are that of smoked plum, red and black currants and a touch of vanilla.
As the wine enters your mouth, you taste a smooth, ripe, concentrated wine that is common with the more expensive Merlots, making this selection a great value as well. The finish is that of baked fruits, still very smooth and low on the tannins, making this wine a perfect partner for grilled tenderloin or a fabulous fall stew.
The 2006 Viña Cobos ‘Lagarto’ Merlot is available at Café Central, The Greenery and other fine retailers here in El Paso. Salud!
