Your Face
This summer, be nice to your wallet and sweet to your face. For a quick at home facial exfoliation try this invigorating scrub: Mix fresh squeezed lemon juice with a tablespoon of brown sugar and gently scrub your face over the sink. Follow by splashing cool water over your face until the scrub is rinsed off and then pat dry.
[Secret Tip: Exfoliate more on the areas of the face that are the most oily like your t-zone]
Your Hands:
Dry summer heat can do a number on those gorgeous hands. Try this to quench the thirst of your cuticles: After washing your hands, gently massage your nails and cuticles with a cuticle oil like Sally Hansen's Cuticle Oil or Sinful Cuticle Oil. The beauty experts at Barragan's Salon & Spa suggest that doing this on a regular basis will help to soften the cuticles and will aid in maintaining a manicured look. For an on-the-go cuticle fix, push back your cuticles gently using your hand cream you carry in your purse.
[Secret Tip: Trim cuticles once every two weeks to keep them looking healthy].
Your Hair:
When the dry heat and humidity take over in the summer, your hair is the first thing they seem to attack. Show the heat who's boss by using a hydrating shampoo like Bumble and Bumble's Creme de Coco, and make sure to rinse with cool water. Follow up with a conditioner such as Bumble and Bumble's Creme de Coco conditioner. For added health, use an anti-frizz serum before drying your hair like Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum. If you plan on using a flat iron it is important to protect the ends by smoothing a pomade such as Garnier Fructis Shine Wax on the ends prior to using the iron to protect the ends from drying out.
[Secret Tip: Leaving in a low cost conditioner in your hair for three minutes will keep hair more moisturized and tamed for a lower cost].
Your Hair Do:
Before hitting the pool with the girls, don't forget to tie up those locks to keep you feeling fresh in the warm sun. Pull your hair half up leaving some height at the crown and fasten with a barrette or bobby pins. Grab chunks of hair from the remaining hair and then twist and pin the hair up off your shoulders. Strategically place hair so that it looks balanced. Keep doing this until all your hair has been pinned up. Don't focus on perfection, summer hair is all about looking natural and maybe even a little crazy.
[Secret Tip: Spraying your up-do with a shine spray like TRESeme's No Frizz Shine Spray will keep your strands glistening in the sun].
Your Feet:
The summer season makes for the best time to have fun with color on your toes regardless of your age. Before thinking about color, give your feet a little TLC by exfoliating your heels with a pumice stone. Follow up by rubbing on your favorite foot cream. After trimming down your toenails to a cute pedicured length, try painting on a bold and daring color. 'Brights' by OPI Lacquers are sure to bring attention to your toes. Aqua, hot pink and salmon are some of the favorite colors for pedicures from the clients at Barragan's Salon & Spa.
[Secret Tip: To keep your feet extra soft and free of cracked heels, pack on a heavy cream at night and slip on a pair of socks before climbing into bed to lock in the moisture]
